I
believe the Sanctuary, to be cleansed at the end of the 2300 days, is
the New Jerusalem Temple, of which Christ is a Minister. The Lord shew
me in vision, more than one year ago, that Brother Crosier had the true
light, on the cleansing of the Sanctuary, &c; and that it was his
will, that Brother C. should write out the view which he gave us in the
Day-Star Extra, February 7, 1846. I feel fully authorized by the Lord to
recommend that Extra to every saint. {WLF 12.8 / A Word to the Little

In
66 AD in October, Cestius besieged Jerusalem. The Christians in the
city recognized this as the sign given by Christ (Matthew 24:15). When the Romans suddenly withdrew, the Christians fled, not one of them losing his life.

In
70 AD, Titus returned with a large army. The city was destroyed, the
temple was burnt to the ground and more than a million Jews perished in
the siege.

For the next nearly 250 years, the church suffered
intense persecution from the Roman government. Christians were given to
wild beasts, or smeared with pitch and lashed to poles to serve as
torches for the arena. Three million were martyred for their faith in
Christ.

Ten Toes = the ten barbarian tribes which divided out of Rome between 351 AD and 476 AD during its collapse:
1. The Saxons, originating the English nation.
2. The Franks, originating the French nation.
3. The Alamanni, originating the German nation.*
4. The Visigoths, originating the Spanish nation.
5. The Suevi, originating the Portuguese nation.
6. The Lombards, originating the Italian nation.
7. The Burgundians, originating the Swiss nation.
8. The Heruli, who were annihilated by the little horn in 483 AD.
9. The Vandals, who were annihilated by the little horn in 534 AD.
10. The Ostrogoths, who were annihilated by the little horn in 538 AD.

*Note:
the Alamanni (Germans) are recorded here after the historical
precedent. However, previous leading commentaries on Daniel 2 have named
the Huns in place of the Alamanni.

The 22nd October 1844 is the tenth day of the seventh month (Leviticus 16:29-30; 23:27-30) of the Hebrew calendar for the year which comes 2300 years (Daniel 8:13-14; Ezekiel 4:6) after the commandment to restore and to build Jerusalem (Daniel 9:25), which was in 457 BC and commanded by King Artaxerxes of Persia (Ezra 6:14).

Then I saw in relation to the “daily” (Daniel 8:12)
that the word “sacrifice” was supplied by man’s wisdom, and does not
belong to the text, and that the Lord gave the correct view of it to
those who gave the judgment hour cry. When union existed, before 1844,
nearly all were united on the correct view of the “daily;” but in the
confusion since 1844, other views have been embraced, and darkness and
confusion have followed. Time has not been a test since 1844, and it

“…until a time and times and the dividing of time.” Daniel 7:25

3½ times (Daniel 7:25; 12:7; Revelation 12:14)
= 42 months (Revelation 11:2; 13:5, 7)
= 1260 days (Revelation 11:3; 12:6)
= 1260 years (538 AD to 1798 AD)

A time = a year (Job 24:1; Psalm 31:10, 15); a month = 30 days
(Genesis 7:11, 24; 8:3-4) and a day = a year, in prophecy
(Numbers 14:34; Ezekiel 4:6).

“If
there ever was a time when serious reflection becomes every one who
fears God, it is now, when personal piety is essential. The inquiry
should be made, “What am I, and what is my work and mission in this
time? On which side am I working—Christ’s side or the enemy’s side?” Let
every soul now humble himself or herself before God, for now we are
surely living in the great Day of Atonement. The cases even now of many
are passing in review before God, for they are to sleep in their graves a
little season. Your profession of faith is not your guarantee in that
day, but the state of your affections. Is the soul-temple cleansed of
its defilement? Are my sins confessed and am I repenting of them before
God, that they may be blotted out? Do I esteem myself too lightly? Am I
willing to make any and every sacrifice for the excellency of the
knowledge of Jesus Christ? Do I feel every moment I am not my own, but
Christ’s property, that my service belongs to God, whose I am?”—Ms 87,
